Getting Started

Install povs, bring in your first POVs, and get their first reactions.

Install

Download povs for Mac or Windows, open it, and sign in. On a phone, the website offers to email you the link so you can install it at your desk. Every account starts with a 7-day free trial.

Platform details are in povs for macOS and povs for Windows.

Bring in POVs

Add the people whose view you need. Each one comes from one of three places:

  • Your customers. Bring in reviews, interviews, sales calls, surveys or support conversations, and the POV is grounded in them.
  • A brief. Describe them: “a skeptic who cancelled two coffee subscriptions last year”.
  • Nothing. A fresh perspective, for first impressions.

More in POVs.

Your first look

  1. Open whatever you want looked at: a page, a design, a build on localhost, an app.
  2. Press ⇧⌘PCtrl Shift P. The screen dims and the chooser appears.
  3. Drag over the part you want them to see, or choose a window, or the whole screen.
  4. Your POVs join the room and look. You see where each of them goes, and their reactions arrive in the thread as they finish.

Want them to see more? + Add view brings another screen into the same test. Finish ends it. See Look.

Ask why

Every reaction can be questioned. Ask why, ask what would change their mind, ask about something on the page and they’ll go back and look before they answer. See Ask.
